Development Manager

The Washington State Budget & Policy Center seeks a full-time Development Manager with demonstrated fundraising experience including, but not limited to: major donor strategies, grant writing, managing fundraising databases, and event planning/coordination.

The ideal candidate is highly creative in developing new approaches to raising money. 

The Washington State Budget & Policy Center is an independent, progressive policy organization that works to create a just and prosperous state through sound research and analysis. The organization provides independent, credible analysis of Washington’s state budget, tax, and related policy matters with attention to the effects of current or proposed policies on low- and moderate-income persons.

Responsibilities

The Development Manager will create and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy with a focus on major gifts. The Development Manager is responsible for meeting yearly fundraising targets. Implementation includes:

• Increasing fundraising outcomes such as number of individual donors, multi-year gifts, gift size, and donor retention
• Managing donor stewardship
• Grant writing
• Developing donor materials
• Coordinating events
• Serving as primary administrator for Salesforce (customer relationship management tool)
• Scheduling and facilitating in-person donor meetings

Knowledge and Skills

• Significant  experience in non-profit development, including donor solicitation, cultivation and event planning
• Project management experience and ability to multi-task
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong attention to detail
• Experience in managing donor databases; experience with Salesforce is a plus
• Experience with email marketing and basic knowledge of website development
• Proficient with Office Suite
• Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and diplomacy skills
• Commitment to the mission of the Budget & Policy Center
• Knowledge of economic policy, federal and state budget and tax issues and the Washington State government is a plus; ability and desire to gain such knowledge is a must.
• An ability to work flexible hours as necessary, including evenings for special events.
•  Sensitivity toward cultural, racial, ethnic, socio-economic, and sexual identity diversity

Salary and Benefits

This is a full-time position. The salary range is $50,000 - $55,000 depending on qualifications. The Budget & Policy Center offers a comprehensive benefit package including health and dental insurance, life and long term disability insurance, retirement, flexible spending accounts and generous vacation, sick leave, and holiday schedules.
