Our Op-Ed in The Bellingham Herald: Legislators Did Right Thing by Balancing Cuts, Taxes

The Bellingham Herald ran our Op-Ed about the other side of the debate over the state's revenue increases -- what they're for.

During this year’s legislative session, lawmakers took a balanced approach in managing the effect of the economic crisis on our state. Yes, along with another round of cuts this year -- on top of the $3.6 billion slashed from the current budget last year -- they did raise revenue though a targeted package that closed tax loopholes and imposed largely temporary "sin tax" increases on non-essential items.
But revenue wasn’t raised for the sake of raising revenue. Click here to see more.
