Preston (he/him) helps advance the Budget and Policy Center’s research agenda and policy priorities.
Preston (Ojibwe) is a citizen of the Bay Mills Indian Community and grew up on his tribal nation’s reservation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He aims to center lived experience in his work and brings nearly a decade of experience working to defend and advance tribal sovereignty and economic justice.
He comes to the Budget and Policy Center from the Montana Budget and Policy Center, where he worked most recently to advance state investments in tribal communities, defend tribal sovereignty, and empower tribal communities to make their voices heard in the state budget-making and policymaking processes. Preston holds a master’s degree in public policy and a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, both from the University of Michigan.
In his spare time, Preston enjoys spending as much time outside as possible, reading, checking out breweries and coffee shops, and working to keep his plants from dying.
