Melinda (she/her) works to ensure the Budget and Policy Center’s strategic communications advance the organization’s policy priorities and mission.
Previously, Melinda led the communications program at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy, where she publicized public health, patient-advocacy, and global-health initiatives. She also served as a communications fellow at the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History as well as working at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. She has degrees from the University of Oregon and Western Washington University.
Melinda believes everyone should get to live life to their fullest potential, without facing barriers to well-being and financial security. She loves working with her colleagues to envision and help create a state that is equitable and where everyone feels a sense of belonging. And she is all about spontaneous singing, boisterous laughter, exploring the region with her spouse, and playing with her highly entertaining dog.
